E-Safety (Pink Slip) Rego Inspections
An eSafety (or pink slip) inspection report verifies your vehicle is safe and ready for the road. Most light vehicles more than 5 years old will require an eSafety check before they can be registered in NSW. Your registration renewal papers will state whether or not you need an inspection.
When your vehicle passes the eSafety check, CMS Automotive will send the report to Transport for NSW electronically.
If the vehicle fails, you’ll be issued with a Repairs Needed report, and you have 14 days to have the work done. After 14 days, the report expires and you’ll have to pay for a new eSafety check.
Once all repairs are carried out, a follow-up check is required. If you return to the same eSafety check station that failed the vehicle initially, there’ll be no charge.
Want to renew your vehicle registration? It’s easy. You can renew online or in person after you get CTP insurance and a safety inspection.
All vehicles except trailers and caravans must have CTP insurance (also know as a green slip). CTP insurance covers death and personal injury when you or the person driving your vehicle is at fault in an accident. In some circumstances, CTP insurance covers you regardless of who was at fault. Vehicles registered in NSW must use a NSW CTP insurer.
When you buy CTP insurance, most insurers send the confirmation electronically to RMS so you don’t need to provide any paperwork when you register your vehicle.
The length of your CTP insurance policy must match your registration term. For example, a 6 month registration requires a 6 month CTP insurance policy.
If you choose to renew your registration for 6 months, you must renew your CTP insurance and registration within 21 days of the registration expiry date.

Unregistered vehicle inspections
At CMS Automotive we are accredited by Transport for NSW under the Authorised Inspection Scheme to inspect your vehicle.
You must get an AUVIS inspection (Blue Slip) if your vehicle:
- Registration has been expired for more than 3 months
- has been brought into NSW from another Australian State or Territory or another country
- has no number plate
- is a write-off approved for re-registration (see written-off vehicles).
- changes to vehicle registration records due to significant changes like a new engine installation
- clearing some defect notices
AUVIS inspection reports are valid for 42 days from the date of inspection. To make a booking for a AUVIS inspection (Blue Slip) please call us on (02) 9554 6099
